Intimate Refuge

Hospitality _ Interior Project | Greve in Chianti, Italy

Concept Design

“With more time spent indoors in the last years, we’re all in need to strengthen our connection with nature; to move with the rhythm of the natural world”.

The project has converted a once private residence into a stunning six cottages, considered as single guest rooms, in the middle of the Tuscany countryside. Inspired by the surrounding Nature and its colors, "Intimate Refuge" Cottages combine grounding elements with a warm lightness. The concept layers moments of softness and tactility to create a unique relaxing and calm refuge for any guest. The guest rooms are all the same in size; each one is outfitted with a luxury bed and materials like wood, brass, marble and plaster. The main character is for sure the ‘Monreale Marble’, which portrays a raw natural beauty by its unique, breccia veining; this reddish, pink, beige, cream and grey marble fills the whole room, giving a refined sense of materiality. Using consistent materiality throughout the room, the latter feel larger and more cohesive. Through a simplified lens, a restrained palette of subtle, warm, neutral finishes creates the ideal place to stay freely between inside and out.

The Guestroom

By pulling the kitchen and main storage wall to the rear of the existing room, all of the functional amenity items are hidden inside, allowing a minimal outlook.
